Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree qualification in a relevant field (e.g. law, finance, commerce) is mandatory.

Experience:

Candidates are expected to have experience in securitisation transaction negotiation and documentation.

Role Overview:

The Impact Investment Team is tasked with managing the Australian Business Securitisation Fund (ABSF). The ABSF is a $2 billion fund established to support the provision of finance to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The Investment Manager (Impact Investment) will take a leadership role in managing new and existing ABSF investments. This will require oversight of investment documentation terms and, where required, negotiation with originators. They may lead commercial negotiations between multiple parties with respect to transaction documentation. The Investment Manager is expected to support the team through the assessment of securitisation transactions.

The Investment Manager will be responsible for managing one or more analysts in the team and stewarding their professional development. As a technical leader in Impact Investment, the Investment Manager is expected to add value to current processes, manage associated risks, and drive improvements.

Key Activities:

The work of the Investment Manager will vary depending on group priorities and project deliverables.  It is expected that key activities may include:

  • Ongoing management of ABSF investments

  • Contributing to the analysis, due diligence and overall risk assessment of current and prospective ABSF investments

  • Leading the negotiation of the terms of investments in securitised financial products (this may include credit enhancement requirements, pricing, intercreditor rights, portfolio parameters and eligibility criteria) and providing guidance on commercial terms

  • Review and comment on securitisation documents for adherence to agreed terms 

  • Maintaining appropriate ABSF policies and procedures

  • Managing external relationships with originators, other market participants, and service providers

  • Other duties as directed

Skills and experience: 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of:

    • Australian capital markets, with a specific focus on securitisation markets and transaction documentation (required)

    • term note programme documentation (desirable)

    • investment performance reporting and monitoring (desirable)

  • An ability to develop and manage a range of stakeholder relationships.

  • Highly developed communication skills including a demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate investment transactions and resolve conflicts.

  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to build technical capability within the team through coaching, providing feedback, and encouraging ongoing development, while ensuring high-quality outputs are delivered. 

  • Proficiency in providing high level technical advice and leadership on documentation for the commercial assessment of securitisation transactions.

Eligibility: 

  • Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen. 
  • Security Clearance – positions at AOFM require a Baseline security clearance. 
  • Other checks – successful applicants are required to undergo a mandatory Australian Federal Police Check and other checks to confirm their suitability for employment.
